Every year Nike comes out with a "Think Pink" shoe to raise money for the Kay Yow WBCA Cancer Fund. Kay Yow was the head coach of the North Carolina State University basketball coach. Diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 1987 didn't stop her from coaching, the following year she led the US women's basketball team to an Olympic gold medal in 1988. An award was created in her honor, it is called the Kay Yow National Coach of the Year Award. The award goes to the women's college basketball head coach who displays great personal character on and off the court.
This Pinkfire Nike 2010 Hyperdunk will be released on January 6th and both men's and women's sizes will be available. The Kay Yow Cancer foundation will receive a portion of the proceeds.
